The Latest on Vaccinations

As the situation with Covid-19 continues to evolve and we learn more about the safety of the vaccinations as well as the risks of not getting vaccinated, more medical experts and trusted medical organizations are recommending vaccinations for pregnant women. Both the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recently issued their formal recommendations, urging pregnant women to get vaccinated, reinforcing that the vaccines are safe and effective. Likewise, the FDA gave full approval to the Pfizer vaccine earlier this week.

When Dr. Jewelia Wagner called her 90-year-old grandmother recently, she asked if she had ever experienced something like the pandemic in her nine decades. Her grandma replied, “no never.”

“Sometimes it’s hard to know how to respond or what to think in these crazy times, but you have to count your blessings and enjoy the family you can spend time with right now,” added Dr. Wagner, mom to four girls ages 5 to 19, who are all home now. “We’ve got this and we’ll get through this.”
