Try Something New in 2013
Eleanor Roosevelt encouraged others to “Do one thing every day that scares you.” Have you taken a risk lately? What changes, new things or adventures would you like to embark on in 2013? Whether it’s a New Year’s resolution or simply a desire to make a change, trying something new can bolster your brain power, tone your body, expand your perspective and even change your life. You can do it alone or enlist a friend or family member. Your new thing can be as simple as a knitting class or trying new vegetables or as major as skydiving, solo travel or getting pregnant.
Take a few moments to ponder what you would like to try or change this year; if there are several things, make a list and prioritize them (you don’t need to try 20 new things this month!). Then make a plan: Do you need to sign up for a class? Make travel arrangements? Call up a friend to ask for support? Read a book for more information? Take action on your dreams, don’t look back and give yourself credit for every step you take in a new direction this year.
