After breaking ground on our new Maple Grove clinic in June, construction of new clinic has continued to heat up. 

We are so excited to welcome Dr. Staci Biegner to the Clinic Sofia team! You will find Dr. Biegner, who recently completed her residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at the University of Florida College of Medicine after earning her medical degree from Florida State University College of Medicine, at both clinics starting this September, after she and her husband relocate from Jacksonville, Fla. In the meantime, you can get to know Dr. Biegner a little bit better.

“Headaches are a pain in the neck, literally! They can also be tricky to diagnose, since there are many types of headaches and even more causes,” said Dr. Jewelia Wagner. “However, it’s definitely worth getting to the bottom of whatever is causing you pain, and we are always happy to take a closer look.”

Clinic Sofia is currently updating patient forms and undergoing a thorough review of all clinic communications to ensure that the language and imagery used does not exclude anyone based on gender or ethnicity. We strive to foster a welcoming environment for all of our patients.

When Dr. Donna Block founded Clinic Sofia 17 years ago, she was inspired by the Greek goddess, Sophia, who symbolizes women’s wisdom and insight, and this continues to guide our work today. In honor of Women’s History Month, we wanted to take a look back and reconnect with our founder, who retired in 2018.

Unlike PMS, which signals the start of your period with bloating and irritability, period pain or dysmenorrhea involves menstrual cramps as well as headaches, low back pain, diarrhea and nausea. While some period pain is common, if you dread that time of month because you repeatedly struggle with severe pain, talk with your doctor to rule out other potential issues such as endometriosis, fibroids and pelvic inflammatory disease, among others.
