Help Women in Crisis This Season
Like so many events and traditions this year, Clinic Sofia’s annual Crimson Kit Collection is changing due to COVID-19. Started by Dr. Erin Stevens in 2016, the donation drive helps to collect period products for women experiencing homelessness or displacement.
In the past three years, the generosity of our Clinic Sofia community has allowed us to donate enough products to help nearly 100 women manage their period for an entire year. Many of you have also volunteered your time to assemble the products into Crimson Kits at our office for distribution to local nonprofits.
While the pandemic will prohibit us from collecting donations of product at our clinics this year, the need to help area women in crisis is ever present and, in the midst of a pandemic, your support is more meaningful than ever.
Dr. Stevens recently launched a Go Fund Me effort to collect contributions for Haven Housing, a Twin Cities-based nonprofit that serves women and children in crisis by providing safe housing and a range of support services. A past recipient of the Crimson Kit donations, Haven Housing will use the funds to address the organization’s greatest needs during this difficult time.
“This year, it feels more important than ever for all of us to do what we can to help others,” said Dr. Stevens, who serves on the board of directors at Haven Housing. “We hope to raise $2,500 in the next month to help Haven Housing in its mission to help area women-led families in crisis or transition on their path to independence, stability and wellness.”
