Flu Shots Are Now Available
With another flu season just around the corner, many people have questions about the necessity of a flu vaccine, especially if they’ve already received their COVID vaccine(s).
“The flu vaccine and COVID vaccines cover you for two separate infections. Even people who are fully vaccinated for COVID should receive a flu shot every year,” said Dr. Staci Biegner. “The flu vaccine decreases your risk of getting sick with the flu and if you do get sick, the vaccine decreases the likelihood of severe symptoms.”
In addition, she adds that both vaccines are recommended for all pregnant women. If a patient recently received a COVID vaccine, they are are still eligible for a flu shot and there are no recommendations for a wait time between vaccinations. Please let your provider know if you would like a flu shot on your next visit or schedule an appointment today.
