Do I need a life coach?
Most people are familiar with sports coaches who help develop a team, provide targeted training and encourage teammates to work toward a specific goal. Outside of the sports arena, life coaches can help individuals work through personal and professional issues while focusing on self-confidence, stronger relationships, and setting and achieving goals.
“We often turn to friends and family in times of need – they provide support, help us answer big questions and sort through emotions. However, having an unbiased expert on your side can help you dig deeper and offer a new perspective,” said Dr. Donna Block. “A life coach can help you improve relationships and confidence at home and in the workplace.”
Life coaches can address issues such as relationships, career, finances, healthy habits and more, and they typically work with clients for seven months to one year, depending on the need. According to a study from the International Coach Federation, those who turned to life coaches particularly appreciated the opportunity to brainstorm together, having an independent advisor, receiving ongoing encouragement and having specific accountability.
