Dr. Amy Hammers’ Birth Story
Dr. Amy Hammers is enjoying every minute of her maternity leave and the chance to get to know Aleksander Brendan, born on Dec. 23 weighing 5 pounds, 14 ounces and 19 inches long. Here Dr. Hammers shares more about her birth story and first month with her son…
“Most of my patients will probably figure out that Aleksander was born a month early and very unexpectedly – I saw several patients that same day and told them I’d see them again in a week! I had some unexpected complications, blood pressure issues, so he needed to be delivered immediately. Thanks to Dr. Jewelia Wagner and Dr. Donna Block, he was born safely and I am recovering very well.
It was quite an eventful holiday for us since we were not expecting him to share it with us, but we ended up spending Christmas in the hospital as a new family of three! After spending eight days in the NICU, Aleksander is home with us and is thriving. He is growing like a weed and loves to cuddle with his mom, which is my favorite thing, too!
My husband, Brendan, and I are so in love with him. I find myself spending most of the day just staring at him!”
Dr. Hammers recently returned to work and is looking forward to seeing and catching up with all of her patients.
