Hope and Help for Infertility
The 33rd Annual Midwest Infertility and Adoption Family Building Summit, a daylong event with speakers, information and resources to help those struggling to get pregnant, took place Nov. 17. Clinic Sofia’s Dr. David Clay had the opportunity to participate in a panel discussion, “Infertility 101,” as well as a couple of TV interviews leading up to the event.
“It was wonderful to take part in this amazing event and help bring about more awareness about infertility so that, hopefully, more couples will seek out help,” said Dr. Clay. “Our panel aimed to put infertility into perspective for attendees and help empower them to be their own advocates.”
He adds that infertility is very common, about one in eight couples struggle with getting pregnant, but couples should speak up and talk to their doctor if they have any concerns. Dr. Clay and the staff at Clinic Sofia see many women who are having difficulty getting pregnant and can help determine what factors may be preventing conception and then determine a plan of action with treatments and support.
The Family Building Summit is an annual event organized by RESOLVE, The National Infertility Association, which is a non-profit dedicated to providing support and information to people who are experiencing infertility. Please note you can also view the TV segments from WCCO-TV and FOX 9 featuring Dr. Clay and Julie Berman, board chair from RESOLVE, discussing infertility—the range of factors impacting fertility, when to seek help, some of the current treatment options, etc. These segments can be accessed on Clinic Sofia’s website.
