Pregnancy and Pandemic Updates

You may have heard that the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recently added pregnancy to its list of conditions that put people at greater risk of serious illness from the coronavirus. We want to acknowledge that these are stressful times and reassure you that Clinic Sofia continues to take measures with your utmost safety in mind during this pandemic and always.

“Even though the CDC updated its list of conditions, nothing has changed, or needed to change, with how we treat our pregnant patients at Clinic Sofia. We encourage best practices in health during pregnancy and the postpartum period for the health of moms, babies and families, and always focus on delivering the most compassionate care with the health and safety of our patients in mind,” said Dr. Jewelia Wagner. “If you have questions about any guidelines or recommendations before, during and after pregnancy, we are always happy to help.”

In addition, Clinic Sofia has received questions about our pandemic visitor policy and heard from patients wondering if we plan to allow visitors. At this time, we continue to take extra precautions to provide the safest environment possible for our patients and staff and require patients come to their visits alone; this includes no children or infants.

As a small, independent practice, we are committed to making decisions and putting in place policies that are in the best interest of all patients and employees. As the clinic continues to see more patients in person, we need to maintain physical distance in waiting rooms, another reason we are maintaining our current policy.

We understand that the visitor policy may be difficult and will continue to monitor statewide guidance and rates of infection and update you with any changes. If you would like to include a partner on a visit, we are happy to connect them in via phone or tablet. Clinic Sofia also continues to offer virtual visits for those who prefer that option.

“Clinic Sofia is committed to providing the best care possible for every person who visits our clinic, in person or virtually, and we definitely look forward to the day we can welcome your families with you again,” Dr. Wagner added.
