Our staff’s current favorites

What is keeping you warm this winter? Are you enjoying a Netflix series? A great podcast or a new book? If you are looking for some new ideas and inspiration, we asked our staff about their current favorites, and here is what they are loving right now:

  • Dr. Erin Stevens: “I recently watched all of ‘The Morning Show’ on Apple TV and absolutely loved it. It’s very topical and promotes strong women. I like to watch short sitcoms on Netflix while on the treadmill, and I just finished ‘Schitt’s Creek,’ which is not only funny but more of a feel-good show than I expected. I’ve now started ‘The Good Place’ which gets you laughing and thinking. This weekend I started reading ‘How to Do Nothing: Resisting the Attention Economy’ and am looking forward to starting ‘The Testaments’ (the follow-up to Margaret Atwood’s ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’).”
  • Katie Tjader, Receptionist. “I am watching ‘Outlander’ and ‘Fleabag’ and reading ‘The Body’ by Bill Bryson, ‘City of Girls’ by Elizabeth Gilbert and ‘The Silent Patient’ by Alex Michaelides.”
  • Jenifer Rossow, Certified Medical Assistant: “I am currently watching a show on Netflix called ‘Love is Blind.’ It’s about meeting someone and never seeing what they look like and getting to know them as a person. Once you think you have found your ‘soul mate,’ you have to decide if you will propose. If yes, that is when you meet the other person. You have to take this voice and person you fell in love with and make it match to the physical person. Once you meet, you have one month until the wedding date! I like it because with all the dating apps and the pressure of society to be fit and fit in, we forget to look past that and truly get to know one another for the goodness of our heart. We need to get back to communicating face to face and not behind a screen.”
  • Justi Mohs, Lab Technician: “‘Dead to Me’ on Netflix is amazing!!” She also recommends Netflix’ “Grace and Frankie” for a good watch.
  • Kristin Larson, Accounts Receivable and Surgery Scheduler: “‘Schitt’s Creek’ is a funny, happy feel-good show that still has some sarcastic wit, so it’s not too saccharine.”
  • Katie Sexe, Office Manager: “I just finished ‘The Fifth Risk’ by Michael Lewis, who also wrote ‘The Blind Side’ and “Moneyball.’ It was a quick read, but not exactly light reading: It examined the transition from the Obama administration to the Trump administration from the point of view of three departments, Agriculture, Energy and Commerce. The general theme of the book is that the Trump administration was very unprepared and uninterested in governing and learning about the inner workings of government. It was a very fascinating read about the willful ignorance regarding our nation’s critical services. For something lighter and fluffier, I’ve been binge-watching ‘Sex Education,’ ‘Shameless,’ ‘Grace and Frankie,’ ‘New Girl’ and ‘Schitt’s Creek.’”
